
Kate Katcher debuted on Broadway opposite Zero Mostel and was selected by Jerome Robbins for the 1980 revival of Fiddler on the Roof as Tzeitel opposite Herschel Bernardi, following a tour of Wonderful Town starring the luminous Lauren Bacall. Other roles include Gittel Mosca in Two for the Seesaw directed by Judith Ivey, the Off-Broadway run of Daddy Issues as Marian Moskowiitz, Mrs. Baker in Butterflies Are Free and, proving she doesn't exclusively play Jewesses, Sister Aloysius In John Patrick Shanley's , Doubt. She is a company member of Newtown's Flagpole Radio Cafe and was seen in her own critically acclaimed short play, Layover at Reagan National at The Chain.

She received her BFA in Acting from Boston University and subsequent studies with Wynn Handman, Joanna Merlin, and E. Katherine Kerr.
As Artistic Director of the Stray Kats Theatre Company in Connecticut, Kate directed full productions included the world premiere of Small World by Fred Stroppel, Rounding Third by Richard Dresser, Seven by C. Mack, P. Cizmar, C. Filloux, G. Kriegel, R. Margraff, A. Deavere Smith, S. Yankowitz, and staged reaadings of contemporary classics and new works like, Holiday Memories by Truman Capote, Seascape by Edward Albee, Wonderful World by Richard Dresser, Butcher's Cabin and In the Middle of Nowhere, both new works by Kent R. Brown, By the Heirs of St. Patrick by Steve Bellwood (New play), and Our Lady of Allapattah by Christopher Demos Brown . Still Crazy After All These Years Festival of short original plays by, for and about senior citizens.
