A Fox in the Henhouse

What's it about

For mature audiences who are tired of seeing themselves depicted as old, ailing, even dying, A Fox in the Henhouse is a romantic comedy for anyone who is or knows a senior citizen.

It is the biting love story of two sisters  in their 70s: Em, one who divorced the man of her nightmares some decades ago, and Ann who just slept with him.

“He makes me feel alive,” Ann explains.

“So does electro-shock therapy. Get in the bathtub, I’ll throw you the toaster,” says Em.

What starts out as door-slamming comedy ultimately reveals a bond between an estranges husband and wife that has not diminished despite years of neglect, and another bond, between sisters, that cannot be severed by a man.

Why this play, why now?

Seniors are living longer with greater quality of life than ever before. From Broadway to the most local of community theaters, one glance will tell you who is filling the seats of any audience: senior citizens. They have the time,  the resources and the desire to seek out entertainment. And one fact is clear: NONE OF US IS GETTING YOUNGER, providing an ever evolving demographic of engaged participants in the theatrical experience.

With only three actors on a single set. A Fox in the Henhouse is producible no matter what your budget.

Critical ACCLAIM

... destined to be produced from sea to shining Seattle. The story of two sisters who find that sisterly love is just as valuable as romantic love may not sound as if it would offer belly laugh after titanic belly laugh, but Kate Katcher's witty and warm script will have theatergoers doing just that. In between, they'll also be wiping occasional emotional tears from their eyes. Here's the quintessential audience pleaser that will still be performed when Justin Bieber files for Social Security. Don't miss the chance to partake of its wonders."

   -- Peter Filichia, Broadway Radio

"A Fox in the Henhouse is so well written with hilarious sarcastic humor that had us not being able to put this play down as tears ran down from our face from laughing. We wanted to cast it and see it put up. "
